"The only way to downsize the number of abortions is to practice safe sex"-sounds logical.
FACT: The majority of women who abort their babies were using contraception when they became pregnant.
—Alan Guttmacher Institute, research arm of Planned Parenthood
Contraceptive failure rates:
The Pill: 7%
Condom: 16%
Diaphragm: 22%
Spermicide: 30%
Figures are even higher for unmarried people.
—National Survey of Family Growth
As you can see, research has proven that this is not true. Pro-life activists have taken aim at condoms and other types of contraceptives. Contraceptives have become a contraversial politicail and ethical issue in many cultures.
In six countries; Cuba, United States, Netherlands,Denmark, Singapore and the Republic of Korea studies have shown that the use of contraceptives and abortions rose simultaneously. However in seven other countries including Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Switzerland tests have shown that abortion has declined as the use of modern contraceptives rose.
So what are we supposed to believe? Do contraceptives actually decline the number of abortions? I still think they do, even though statistics have proven otherwise in the United States. Preventing pregnancy prevents abortion. Practicing safe sex does not lead to pregnancy meaning no abortion will come after that.
