His thoughts on abortion...

I also interviewd a guy, just to compare their opinions. He wished to remain anonymous.

At this point in your life, what would be your FIRST reaction if your girlfriend tells you she is pregnant?
- "I would question her and um ask her how she feels about having a child at this point in HER life. But before that i would have to go get drunk."
So are you Pro-abortion?
- Yeah i am. Because some people make mistakes, not everything is always planned and they deserve a second chance. Financial situation is a problem.
What happens if you tell her to get an abortion and she doesn't?
-Then that's her choice. she wants to have the baby but lying is no bueno when it involves another indivdual being born in to this world. I would be highly upset becuase she lied but i'ma have to support her, thats my responsibilty after all.

Her thoughts on abortion...

I interviewed a female peer who wished to remain anonymous. She shared her thoughts on abortion with me:

Do you believe in abortion?
-Yes i do.
Why or why not?
- Becuase i feel it's the woman's choice on whether or not she has the ability to take care of the child financially and/or mentally.
If you are having sex you are setting yourself up for it's consequences, what do you think?
- I feel that when i have sex i will be responsible about it. S**t happens, and god knows what he has in store for me but it is up to me if i can alter my future. Thats why i believe we should have the choice.
Are you worried about the consequences after abortions?
- To a certain extent because anything can happen things go wrong, but i leave it to the pros. I have faith doctors that SPECIALIZE in that field will take care of my condition. I mean thats what they are there for.

Thank you.

Brendas got a baby

"I hear Brenda's got a baby
But, Brenda's barely got a brain
A damn shame
The girl can hardly spell her name(That's not our problem, that's up ta Brenda's family)
Well let me show ya how it affects tha whole community
Now Brenda never really knew her moms and her dad was a junky
Went in debt to his arms, it's sad
Cause I bet Brenda doesn't even know
Just cause your in tha ghetto doesn't mean ya can't grow
But oh, that's a thought, my own revelation...
2Pac Brendas Got a Baby
http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/2pac/brendasgotababy.html

The lyrics in this song express an unfortunate event, in where a young child was deprived of her innocence and force to take extreme measures like prostituting. She was molested by one of her own family members and went through with the pregnancy. 2 Pac expresses how this affects everyone. He believes that everyone should have the courage and oppurtunity to grow- and not let anything bring you down.

According to Brendas story, she made a terrible decision to throw away her baby-this not only occurs in 2Pac's lyrics but worldwide. Real life. Its devastating and heart breaking to learn about situations like Brendas...so what do you do in Brenda's case???

She had an abortion...so what?

"Abortion is the most commonly performed surgery in the United States—43 percent of women will terminate an unwanted pregnancy before age 45."

This site focuses on the stories of ten women who have had abortions for many different reasons. They all share the belief that abortion is life affirming. They believe the issues of real women are rarely heard. Most women don't even mention their abortion stories untill years after, they feel ashamed and embarrassed. Some just can't bear it.

Gloria Steinem, spoke about illegal abortions, and why she had one. “It was 1957 and I was living in London, working as a waitress. I had no money and no friends and was trying to figure out what to do,” she recalls. “There was no way I could give birth to someone and also give birth to myself."

This reason suits many young women. Most of the ladies mentioned were young when they became pregnant and this was their only excape. Due to this choice many women experience things they could not normally experience if they went through with the pregnancy.
Abortion and the right to chose has no class-no system. It is not reserved for the poor or unmarried nor is it reserved for teenagers who are considered irresponsible. Women know the importance of freedom, and will always fight for others to have that same choice.
They say its almost painless and a quick procedure. You may get cramping or even severe cramping in the following days to come

Prevent an Abortion-Practice SAFE SEX

"The only way to downsize the number of abortions is to practice safe sex"-sounds logical.

FACT: The majority of women who abort their babies were using contraception when they became pregnant.
—Alan Guttmacher Institute, research arm of Planned Parenthood

Contraceptive failure rates:
The Pill: 7%
Condom: 16%
Diaphragm: 22%
Spermicide: 30%
Figures are even higher for unmarried people.
—National Survey of Family Growth

As you can see, research has proven that this is not true. Pro-life activists have taken aim at condoms and other types of contraceptives. Contraceptives have become a contraversial politicail and ethical issue in many cultures.
In six countries; Cuba, United States, Netherlands,Denmark, Singapore and the Republic of Korea studies have shown that the use of contraceptives and abortions rose simultaneously. However in seven other countries including Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Switzerland tests have shown that abortion has declined as the use of modern contraceptives rose.

So what are we supposed to believe? Do contraceptives actually decline the number of abortions? I still think they do, even though statistics have proven otherwise in the United States. Preventing pregnancy prevents abortion. Practicing safe sex does not lead to pregnancy meaning no abortion will come after that.

They are Pro-life

"Pro-life is a term representing a variety of perspectives and activist movements in bioethics. It can be used to indicate opposition to practices such as euthanasia, human cloning, research involving human embryonic stem cells, and the death penalty, but most commonly (especially in the media and popular discourse) to abortion, and support for fetal rights. The term describes the political and ethical view which maintains that all human beings have the right to life, and that this includes fetuses and embroys." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro-life
Pro-Life believers are backed by the bible. Although in the bible it does not literally state that "thou shalt not abort your children" the bible teaches us that this is morally wrong. A few people argue this point because the bible does strictly prohibit taking the life of an inocent person. According to the bible it does not depend on how far we have made it in life's journey, instead we are beings who are made in the image of god.
Proverbs 6:16-19 - There are six things which the LORD hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood...
Abortion is simply not safe. You are putting future pregnancies at risk, along with many other things. According to research:
  • Your next baby is twice as more likely to die in the first few months of life.
  • Your next baby will most likely be born prematuraly and all the dangerous problems that comes along with that.
  • You will be less likely to have normal delivery in future pregnancies.
  • Miscarriages are very common after 2 or more abortions.
Sometimes death can even occur, resulting from infection after the abortion. This can happen from anywhere in 1 to 4 women to 1 to 50 women.

They are Pro-choice

" Pro-choice describes the political and ethical view that a woman should have total control over her fertility and pregnancy. This entails the guarantee of reproductive rights, which includes access to sexual education; access to safe and legal abortion, contraception, and fertility treatments; and legal protection from forced abortion. Individuals and organizations who support these positions make up the pro-choice movement."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro-choice

MAIN ARGUMENT:Every child should be a wanted child.
So in the event that you are raped would you be willing to keep that child and show the same love that your parents show you each and every day? My opinion is that it would be very difficult to show love to an unwanted child. It was a forceful action that came upon me by and act of unrightrousness. Getting up every day looking into that child's eye is a reminder of that horrible day. As the child grows the explanation of where he came from would be difficult. Kids are not insecure, they are aware of their surroundings and ask questions when they are unsure of things. Abortion of an unwanted child can reduce the number of child abuse cases. It's only logical.
That's just one idea!

Alot of the pro-choice reasoning comes from the simple fact everyone thinks differently. No "pro-lifer" can impose their moral rights on one that does not believe in the same things. Many argue that is is more of a civil issue. A woman should be able to control her own body-she does what she does for a reason.
